McConway & Torley is looking for Quality Inspector for our Tensile Lab. In this role, you will be performing basic quality control testing and inspection of standard parts, units, equipment, or material to ensure conformance with standards and determining if product meets all requirements. You will also operate all of the equipment in the tensile lab to ensure quality for all of our products. 

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Shift: Must be able to work any shift, will be consistent once trained. 

What you’ll do:

  • Use indicators and various measuring tools
  • Work independently in loading and unloading parts in machine
  • Perform Quality inspections
  • Operates overhead cranes and forklift to transfer materials
  • Read engineering drawings

What you’ll need:

  • Must be available to work any shift, but the shift will be steady once assigned.
  • Must be able to use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measurers 
  • Must be able to run basic machining machines. Load a part, set it up, and run the machine. 
  • Must have the ability to function and communicate in a team setting
  • Must be attentive to detail
  • Must be punctual, predictable, and have regular attendance
  • Must be able to stand for long durations
  • Must be tolerant to extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must have a good attitude and be adaptable to changes
  • Must follows all safety requirements per safety department, JSA, supervision, and others
  • Must be available to work either shift and overtime as necessary
  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
  • Must be able to follow a strict safety program

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
  • Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant

  • Be aware of and observe all safety practices. Including but not limited to- Safety glasses, safety boots, hearing protection, etc… as required
  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Participate in safety committees and initiatives as assigned.
